Experts at PGI Chandigarh have now found a cure for a particular type of cancer without the need for chemotherapy.

This achievement has been achieved after 15 years of research at the institute, in which the experts of the Hematology Department completely cured the patients of Acute Promyelocytic Leukemia (APML) without giving any chemotherapy.

According to the media reports, Professor in-charge of Clinical Hematology, Pankaj Malhotra said that there are many types of blood cancer. The type of cancer for which we have started it is very dangerous. In this, patients die within 2-3 weeks. It has started for this type of cancer.

He said that "our department was doing research on this since 2004. Chemotherapy cannot be given to patients in such circumstances. In this we use Vitamin A analog and arsenic. Its results have been quite good in the last few years. We have also published the same thing in our research."

Pankaj Malhotra said that "while we give Vitamin A to the patient in dosage form, the portion of arsenic that we have to give is injected into the patient. It is given after considering the weight and other conditions of the patient. We keep such patients admitted with us. In comparison to the quick effect of chemotherapy, the effect of this medicine takes a little longer."
