With tube in nose, Parrikar presents Goa budget with good spirits

Panaji: Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar presented the state's budget on Wednesday despite his ailing condition. He said "There is a josh, that is too high and I'm fully in hosh."

Looking feeble, with a tube inserted into his nose, Manohar Parrikar exhibited good spirits. "Today, once again I promise that I will serve Goa with sincerity, integrity, and dedication until my last breath," Parrikar said in the Goa assembly.

Parrikar has been in bad health since an year. Last year, he went to the United States and for the treatment of advanced pancreatic cancer. Manohar Parrikar spent around three months in the US and returned home in June last year.

Since his return, Manohar Parrikar has been actively involved in his state's administration. The Opposition Congress has questioned whether Parrikar can effectively govern the state, considering the state of his health.

On Wednesday, Manohar Parrikar presented the Goa budget in the state assembly, sitting in his chair with a tube inserted through his nose.

Apart from presented the state budget , Manohar Parrikar also confronted Congress president Rahul Gandhi over the Rafale controversy. Rahul Gandhi had paid a visit to Manohar Parrikar in Goa on Tuesday. Later , Rahul Gandhi told Congress workers Parrikar had said that he had nothing to do with the 'new (Rafale) deal' that was "orchestrated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to benefit Anil Ambani".

Today, Manohar Parrikar wrote to Rahul Gandhi accusing him of using his visit for "petty political gains". "In the five minutes you spent with me, neither did you mention anything about Rafale, nor did we discuss anything related to it," wrote Parrikar.

Congress leader mocked Parrikar's ailment

Meanwhile Congress leader made fun of Manohar Parrikar's prolonged illness. Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) president Girish Chodankar said that Manohar Parrikar should come back to "hosh" (Consciousness) before speaking about josh. This comes after Parrikar addressed his first public gathering since he was diagnosed with a pancreatic cancer. "How is the josh? How is the josh?" asked Parrikar at an event here, adding that I will transfer my josh to you and sit here and speak a few words.

This nasty comment is sure to create a political wrangle between the Bharatiya Jamata Party and Congress.
