Union Minister Mahendra Nath Pandey to be next UP BJP President

Lucknow: Union Minister Mahendra Nath Pandey has been appointed as the next Uttar Pradesh Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President.

A party release said the appointment of Pandey, an MP from Chandauli, has been made with immediate effect. Pandey, currently, is Minister of State in the Union Human Resource Development Ministry.

His appointment comes at a time when Prime Minister Narendra Modi's cabinet rejig is speculated on Saturday.

At present, the post of BJP chief in the state is being helmed by Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya.

BJP national president Amit Shah had said that Keshav will devote his complete efforts towards the state once a new state president is selected.
