Lucknow: Samajwadi Party (SP), on Thursday, distributed the party symbol to candidates for the first phase of Uttar Pradesh Assembly Elections.

The form A and B given to the candidates in Lucknow have the signature of Samajwadi Party President and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav.

Meanwhile, few seats have been kept vacant for Congress as no candidates have been nominated on Shamli, Mirpur in Muzaffarnagar, Chandpur in Bijnour, Sahibabad in Ghaziabad, Kol in Sahibabad and a seat each in Baghpath, Meerut, Gutambuddh Nagar, Hapur, Aligarh, Bulandshaher, Mathura, Hathras and Agra districts.

Congress, however, gets no seat in Firozabad, Etah and Kasganj districts.

Those who have been allotted the symbol include Nahid Hasan from Kairana seat, Gaurav from Muzaffarnagar, Shahid Manzur from Kithour (Meerut), Atul Pradhan from Sardhana, Prabhu Dayal from Hastinapur, Adil Chaudhary from Meerut South, Rashid Malik from Ghaziabad Loni, Narendra Nagar from Jevar (Noida), Zafar Alam from Aligarh City, among others.

Polling for the the first phase of Uttar Pradesh assembly elections will take place on February 11 and the counting of votes will take place March 11.
