New Delhi: On the demise of 82-year-old leader and a three-time Congress chief minister of Bihar, Jagannath Mishra, many prominent leaders from political sphere expressed their grief.

Paying her condolences, Congress president Sonia Gandhi said as a three-time Congress chief minister of Bihar, Union Cabinet Minister and PCC president on many occasions, Mishra always stood for the interests of the deprived and the marginalised minorities in society.

He will be remembered for a long time to come, Gandhi said.

Mourning the deaths of her former Bihar counterpart, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee extended her condolences to Mishra's family and his admirers.

"Saddened at the passing away of former Chief Minister of Bihar, Jagannath Mishra ji. Condolences to his family and his admirers," Banerjee tweeted.

Following his death, Bihar government declared a three-day state mourning.

The leader had been suffering from cancer and was undergoing treatment in the national capital, where he breathed his last in New Delhi on Monday morning, according to reports.
