Lucknow: Two Bahujan Samaj Party nominees,Satish Chandra Mishra and Ashok Sidharth, filed their nomination papers on Saturday for the Rajya elections. In addition.two party candidates , Dinesh Chandra and Surendra Kashyap, filed their papers for the state legislative council. Elections to fill the vacancies in the two Houses will be held next month.

While eleven seats will fall vacant in the Rajya Sabha , 13 vacancies will be caused in the state legislative council, in july. The BSP has enough strength to elect all the four members .

In addition to the BSP, the Samajwadi Party candidates have filed their nominations. on the basis of its strength in the state assembly, the party can send seven members to the Rajya Sabha. The Congress and the BJP can get one member each elected.

later, talking to media persons, Satish claimed that his party was number one in the state and would come back to power after the elections next year. As in 2007, his caste (Brahmin) would vote for the BJP and help it return to power.

Asked about issues to be raised during elections, he said, " our emphasis will be on law and order and development. On both the counts the present government has miserably failed".
