Lucknow: Soon after becoming the Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha), the larger than life persona Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Amar Singh on Sunday defended the party in the Jawaharbagh violence of June 2 last in Mathura.

“Force was not sent in Jawaharbagh watching large numbers of women and children. There would have been a greater loss to life and property if force was sent there,” said Amar while addressing a press conference in Lucknow.

Accepted the failure of LIU

Singh, accepted the fact that there was a failure of local intelligence unit (LIU) in the incident but the Uttar Pradesh government did not get any input from the Intelligence Bureau.

Takes a jibe at Hema Malini:

Taking a dig at Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Hema Malini, Singh said that he loves her so it would be inappropriate to comment on her.
