Rajya Sabha chairman accepts the resignation of Vijay Mallya

New Delhi: Rajya Sabha Chairman Hamid Ansari accepted the resignation of Independent member Vijay Mallya after he sent a fresh letter with his signature on Wednesday.

Mallya’s resignation was accepted hours after the Ethics Committee of the House submitted its report, recommending his expulsion, sources said.

The liquor baron is facing a case of loan default of over Rs 9,400 crore.

Though, his resignation letter was rejected on Tuesday on procedural grounds. His signature was scanned, but it did not satisfy the rules.
