New Delhi: Calling it the most emotional moment of his life, President elect Ram Nath Kovind congratulated and thanked opposition candidate Meira Kumar.

"This is an emotional moment for me today. I would like to thank and congratulate opposition candidate Meira Kumar," Kovind said.

Calling his win as a mark of greatness of Indian democracy, Kovind also thanked BJP members, NDA family, other valued parties and leaders who supported him.

Kovind, while addressing media at his residence after the declaration of the results stated that he would maintain the dignity of his office and work for the oppressed section of the society. "My fight for secularism, the oppressed and the marginalised continues," said the NDA President elect.

The newly elected President of India also reacted on the talks over his not so famous name in the political circle. "Me getting elected is a lesson for every Indian that the person who continues his hard work and dedication, achieves great heights sooner or later," he said.

Meanwhile, Meira Kumar also congratulated Ram Nath Kovind and wished that the President elect will uphold Constitution in letter and spirit in these challenging times.
