PM Modi himself has politicised triple talaq: Ghulam Nabi Azad

New Delhi: Coming down heavily on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, senior Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad on Sunday said former is an expert of politicising the triple talaq issue.

"The Prime Minister has said that the issue should not be politicised. I want to ask the Prime Minister, who is politicising it? He is the biggest champion of politicising it,” said Ghulam Nabi Azad.

Attacking PM Modi, he said no other party including AIADMK, DMK, BJD, JD(U), Samajwadi Party, BSP, Congress or the TMC has talked about Triple Talaq.

“Give me the name of one political leader of any political party who initiated the discussion. But leaders of the BJP – right from the Prime Minister, and those of the RSS, from worker to pracharak – run this agenda all the time, both before and after elections. No political party has talked about it," said senior Congress leader.

He said when the issue is pending before the court, there is no need of Bharatiya Janata Party to interfere in between in a bid to create division between Muslim women and their husbands.

Earlier, PM Modi had urged Muslims not to view the issue of Tripe Talaq politically.
