Deve Gowda also believes that Modi has not worked for the common man. Naming his programs like 'Make in India', 'Skill India and Digital India', the former PM said that Modi's programs may be good but they haven't rendered any benefits to the common people. There's a lot of difference between claims and ground reality.

Talking on Rafale deal, the JD(S) chief said that the only problem with the issue is that the PM is being attacked solely, however he should not have refrained from the Parliament session and given the replies on the controversial deal.

Dewe Gowda also said that opposition should not use offensive words that hurt the stature of the PM, as he is the Prime Minister of the country and not any political party.

On Rahul Gandhi being the face of the coalition for the PM candidature, Deve Gowda said " Rahul Gandhi is a budding leader, since his appointment as the Congress president, he has evolved as an individual and gained much experience, though there is still room for improvement."

He also said that he is in full support of Rahul and has no hesitation in backing him as the PM candidate as he is a young leader and the obvious face of PM for the coalition.

Talking about the current status of his party, Deve Gowda said that his party has been reduced to only 37 seats in the state, therefore he will focus only on Karnataka.
