The results of Madhya Pradesh Assembly Elections have come, but even after 5 days the question remains that who will become the Chief Minister. This delay has many meanings in political circles, but in administrative circles this delay is sure to cause problems to the general public.

The suspense has also affected budget preparation. Election results were declared in Madhya Pradesh on December 3, in which BJP won with two-thirds majority while Congress had to face a crushing defeat.

Every year, budget preparation starts in November. The Finance Department seeks reports from all departments on their demands and the condition of the current accounts. In the second phase, Deputy Secretary level officers meet their counterparts in the Finance Department and list their demands. The second round of the meeting is held between the heads of various departments along with finance officials. After this, the budget is finalized with the consent of the Finance Minister level and heads of government. However, this time nothing has happened yet.

Former BJP cabinet minister Gopal Bhargava said that due to elections there is a situation of void for 2-3 months. He said that the entire process will be completed by the end of December. The budget session takes place in February, everything will be done in one and a half months.

Madhya Pradesh Congress Media Department President KK Mishra said that it is regretful that the state government budget comes in March, preparation for which starts from November, but today when half of December is about to pass, the budget process has not started. He said that politics is different and the constitutional process is different.

As of March 31, 2023, the state had a debt of Rs 3.31 lakh crore, in the last 9 months a loan of more than Rs 25,000 crore has been taken. The state budget in the current financial year is Rs 3,14,025 crore. In 2023-24, the income is estimated to be Rs 2 lakh 25000 crore and the expenditure is estimated to be Rs 2,79,000 crore i.e. more than Rs 54,000 crore. Rs 23000 crore will be required for new announcements. If Rs 3000 per month is given to Ladli Behna yojna then Rs 45000 crore will be spent annually on this scheme alone.
