New Delhi: There has been a big political change in Nagaland. Now the government will run here without opposition. In fact, on Saturday, the ruling party and all the opposition parties joined hands. This new front has now been named the United Democratic Alliance (UDA).

No opposition in Nagaland Assembly:

A meeting of all the MLAs including Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP), Naga People's Front (NPF), BJP and independents was called in the capital Kohima. In the meeting chaired by Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, a resolution was passed unanimously to adopt an opposition-less government.

In the 2018 assembly elections, the BJP formed the government in the name of the People's Democratic Alliance with the NDPP, while the Naga People's Front emerged as the main opposition. It was decided by the parties to unite in the assembly, to find solutions to the long pending demands related to Naga political issues. Rio will continue as the chief minister. A common minimum program has been prepared to run the government.

"The nomenclature of United Democratic Alliance (UDA) for the Opposition-less government in Nagaland has been unanimously resolved by the legislators and party leaders of NDPP, BJP, NPF and Independent MLAs," chief minister Neiphiu Rio tweeted.
