UP polls: Mukhtar Ansari, brother Sibgatulla, son Abbas join BSP

Lucknow: Mafia-turned-politician Mukhtar Ansari, his brother Sibgatulla and son Abbas have joined Mayawati-led Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) on Thursday.

While giving the party ticket to Mukhtar from Mau Sadar, Mayawati said that charges against Mukhtar have not yet proved, hence, BSP has welcomed him again.

Ansari had earlier won Mau seat in 1996 on a BSP ticket.

Mukhtar's brother Sibgatulla gets BSP ticket from Mohammadabad and son Abbas Ansari from Ghosi.

Speaking at a press conference here on Thursday, Mayawati said that there have been no criminals in the party, but if someone wants to improve under the BSP umbrella, he will get a chance.

What else Mayawati said?

  • CBI found no evidences against Mukhtar in the Krishnanad Rai murder case.
  • BSP takes strict action over its own party leaders if they are involved in criminal activities.
  • People with criminal mindset remain underground or in jails whenever BSP comes to power in Uttar Pradesh.
  • Dhananjay Singh, Ramakant Yadav, Raja Bhaiya, Deep Narayan Yadav, Vijay Mishra and few other names would be inducted in the party only if they stop indulging in anti-BSP activities.

Mayawati attacks BJP:

  • Narendra Modi government failed to fullfill the promises it made during the Lok Sabha elections.
  • BJP has a hint of losing in Uttar Pradesh assembly elections and it is now pitching for the Ram Mandir issue to get the electoral benefits by involving the religious sentiments of voters.
