Its 'Bhrashtachar Bandh' vs 'Bharat Bandh', says PM Modi

Kushinagar: Hitting out strongly at anti-demonetisation brigade, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday said that at one hand we are trying to put a check over corruption with 'Bhrashtachar Bandh' while on the other hand some political parties are organising 'Bharat Bandh'.

"We are trying to curb corruption and they are organising 'Bharat Bandh'. Should there be 'Bharat Bandh' or 'Bhrashtachar Bandh'?" questioned PM Modi without naming any political party in particular.

It may be mentioned that opposition parties have decided to organise a 'Bharat Bandh' in order to protest against the Centre's decision of demonetising Rs 1000 and Rs 500 (old) denomination notes.

The road to black money and graft should be blocked instead of 'Bharat Bandh', said PM while addressing the Bhartiya Janata Party's 'Parivartan Rally' in Kushinagar district of Uttar Pardesh ahead of 2017 assembly polls.

PM plays farmer card in UP, attacks state government:

• My government is dedicated to the poor, farmers, scheduled castes and tribes.
• When my govt took charge, cane farmers were to be paid Rs 12,000 crore. Made sure dues cleared.
• We want our sugarcane farmers to prosper. Their exploitation is not acceptable.
• Ethanol from sugarcane can reduce India’s fuel imports.
• There was a time when farmers had to stand in line and wait for hours to get urea, this is not the case these days.
• We 'Neem coated' the Urea so that it could not be used in chemical industries.
• We are giving impetus to infrastructure in Uttar Pradesh.
• I don't think that the UP government is interested in problems of people of this state.
• Want to tell UP Govt that if they have time and are concerned about the farmers of the state, implement PM Fasal Beema Yojana

PM on Plastic money:

• Technology has simplified our lives. Mobile phones have become banks today.
• I urge everyone to shift towards a digital economy.
• I urge the youth to train other people how mobile technology can lead to transparent transactions. It will choke black money.
