New Delhi: Bahujan Samaj Party chief, Mayawati, has demanded setting up of a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) to probe into the allegation that the information about demonetisation was selectively leaked before the announcement.

Talking to media persons on Wednesday she said that the decision on the issue was taken in a “ hurry” without making proper arrangements to meet the situation arising out of it.

She accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of passing on the demonetisation information to some businessmen who have made considerable gains. “ Some of them are financing BJP rallies like the one held at Ghazipur recently. The air can be cleared only after a JPC probe".

According to her, the common men have suffered the most due to the decision. The Lok Sabha should stop its scheduled work and discuss the issue.

The House which met for its winter session on Wednesday adjourned for the day due to death of a member.
