Lok Sabha Elections: BJP has not given tickets to 21% of sitting MPs in two lists

BJP has so far released two lists for the Lok Sabha elections. Names of 276 candidates have been announced in both the lists. The special thing is that this time the party has canceled the tickets of about 21% sitting MPs. According to sources, BJP has approved the names of the candidates as per the strategy made keeping in mind the possible anti-incumbency wave and after ground feedback. Selection of candidates is also very important with the aim of winning 370 seats on its own in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. The party aims to win 67 more seats than in 2019.

BJP had released the first list of candidates on March 2, despite the names of 195 candidates in the list, tickets of 33 MPs were cut, the names of Pragya Thakur, Ramesh Bidhuri and Pravesh Verma are also included among those cut. On Wednesday, March 13, BJP released the second list of 72 names, in which 30 MPs were shown the door. Out of 267 names included in both the lists of BJP, tickets of most of the sitting MPs have been cancelled. The party has repeated 140 MPs and canceled the tickets of 67 MPs. Gautam Gambhir's name is also included among the two MPs whose tickets were canceled. In his place, the party has made Harsh Malhotra its candidate in East Delhi. Although Gautam Gambhir had already announced not to contest the elections.

BJP's second list includes 20-20 names from Maharashtra and Karnataka, 7 from Gujarat, 6-6 from Telangana and Haryana, 5 from Madhya Pradesh, 2-2 from Delhi, Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh and 1-1 from Dadra and Nagar Haveli. Has been announced.

In Delhi, BJP has replaced six of its sitting MPs. The party has given ticket again only to Manoj Tiwari. Whereas out of the 20 candidates declared for Karnataka, the party has changed 11 MPs, while only eight have been given a second chance. If we talk about Maharashtra, here BJP has again expressed confidence in 14 sitting MPs. Tickets of only 5 MPs have been cut. The MPs who got a second chance include Union Minister Nitin Gadkari from Nagpur. In Beed, instead of Pritam Munde, his sister Pankaja Munde has been given the ticket.

In the second list, only three out of seven sitting MPs from Gujarat have been repeated. Mukesh Dalal has been given a chance in place of Union Minister Darshana Jardosh. Of the six candidates declared in Haryana, three sitting MPs have been given a second chance and two have been replaced. The name of the candidate has also been announced for the seat where the sitting MP had died.

In Telangana, which won 4 seats last time, BJP has given ticket to one MP again and canceled the ticket of one. In the second list, out of five candidates from Madhya Pradesh, two MPs have been given another chance and the tickets of two have been cut. The party has fielded a new candidate, Vivek Sahu, against Nakul Nath in Chhindwara constituency.

In the second list, tickets have been given again to both the MPs in Himachal, in which the name of Union Minister Anurag Thakur from Hamirpur is also included. Both the MPs from Uttarakhand have been replaced. BJP has replaced one MP in Tripura, while the MP from Dadra and Nagar Haveli, who was with the Uddhav Thackeray faction of Shiv Sena, will now contest the elections on BJP ticket.
