Election Commission of India has announced the dates for Lok Sabha Election 2024. This time too, voting will be conducted in seven phases. The results (Lok Sabha Election Result) will be declared on June 4. The Election Commission has also announced to hold assembly elections in four states.

Voting for 543 seats will be held on April 19, April 26, May 7, May 13, May 20, May 25 and June 1.

The tenure of the current Lok Sabha is ending on June 16 and the new Lok Sabha is to be formed before that. The tenure of the assemblies in Andhra Pradesh, Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh and Odisha is also ending on different dates in June.

The Election Commission said that there are 97 crore registered voters in the country, there are more than 10.5 lakh polling stations, 55 lakh EVMs will be used. The total voters include 49.7 crore men, 47.1 crore women and 48 thousand transgenders. The number of such voters, who will vote for the first time, is 1.8 crore.

He said that our voter list includes 82 lakh voters above 85 years of age and 2.18 lakh voters above 100 years of age. The voter sex ratio across the country is 948, with 12 states and union territories having more female voters than male voters. Voting from home facility will be available for voters above 85 years of age and disabled persons across the country.

Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar said that this time people above 85 years of age can vote sitting at home. All voters above 85 years of age will be voted to their homes. This time, for the first time in the country, this system will be implemented simultaneously that we will send forms to voters who are above 85 years of age and have more than 40% disability, if they choose this option of voting.

Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar said that there is no scope for violence during the Lok Sabha elections. Any complaint related to violence will be resolved within 100 minutes. Our promise is to conduct national elections in such a way that India becomes proud at the global level. He said that strict security arrangements have been made for the Lok Sabha elections. A strict vigil is being kept on the criminals. At the same time, the borders will be monitored through drones. Till now cash worth Rs 3400 crore was seized. In some states, force is being used more in money laundering.

Last time in 2019, the dates for the Lok Sabha elections were announced on March 10 and voting was held in seven phases from April 11. The counting of votes took place on 23 May.

The Election Commission had informed a day in advance about calling a press conference to announce the election programme. About 97 crore people are eligible to vote in the upcoming elections at more than 12 lakh polling stations.

In the last parliamentary elections, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) won 303 seats, while Congress got 52 seats. She was not able to muster sufficient numbers to gain the post of leader of the opposition in the Lok Sabha.

The upcoming parliamentary elections are being seen as a 'do or die' contest for the opposition alliance 'India' (Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance).
