New BJP UP Chief calls for no relaxation to avoid Congress-like situation

Lucknow: Taking charge as the new Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Uttar Pradesh chief, Mahendra Nath Mishra on Monday alerted the party workers to keep working for the people if they don’t want BJP to get in the position of Congress.

Beginning his address with chants of 'Jai Shri Ram' and 'Har Har Mahadev' at the state party headquarters here, he said, "There are a few political parties which believe in relaxing after coming to power. Such parties will only get vanished just like Congress did. I would like to appeal all the BJP workers to keep working for the people here to ensure we do not get into the same position as of Congress."

He also poured praises over Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, saying, "PM Modi is a workaholic person while CM Yogi is workaholic and at the same time is very much connected to our cultural roots."

All the renowned leaders of the BJP in Uttar Pradesh, including Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Nand Gopal 'Nandi', Suresh Pasi, Vinay Katiyar and Lallu Singh, had gathered at the party office here to join the welcoming ceremony of the new state unit chief Mahendra Nath Pandey.

He pointed out that during the past 15 years in Uttar Pradesh, administrative machinery has been privatised more than any other state across the country. "The government officers are not yet working for the welfare of the people, while in the other states, with the change of government, the concerned officers start deliveries their duties efficiently."

Praising the people of the state, Pandey said, "The state had voted for a change. To fulfil their wishes, we will have to work differently from the previous governments."

Speaking at the event, Yogi Adityanath reminisced former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and said, "Atal ji had described policy-less government as gallows' noose. Mahendra Nath Pandey is the perfect example of how struggles can be led gently."

He also lauded his deputy Keshav Prasad Maurya saying, "He deserves applauds for his commendable works."

What else Yogi Adityanath said?

  • BJP is at power at the Centre as well as state.
  • Now we will ensure that all the beneficiary schemes reach out to the last person of the state.
  • We will set up Lok Sabha booths on the lines of civic bodies to tell the people about the government’s achievements.

Welcoming Nath, the previous UP BJP chief and Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya said, "The new state chief will take care of the party workers and will expect the same treatment from them to the state."
