Patna: Slamming the Uttar Pradesh government over the deaths of children at the government hospitals, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad Yadav on Tuesday sought imposition of the President's rule in the state.

"The condition in the Uttar Pradesh is deteriorating with each passing day. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath tried his best to cover up the situation at Gorakhpur's BRD hospital, but the recent deaths in the Farrukhabad district hospital clearly states that they are not able to handle the situation there. I recommend the imposition of President's rule in the state," said Lalu, while talking to the reporters here.

He also took a dig at the Gorakhpur tragedy-like incident at the RIMS hospital in Jharkhand, a BJP-ruled state, and said, "There isn’t anybody to address the issue."

After over 60 children died due to acute shortage of oxygen supply at the BRD Medical College in Gorakhpur, at least 49 more children died at a government hospital in Farrukhabad allegedly due to the same reason.

The incidents expose sheer laxity of the hospital administration as according to the sources, the parents of the deceased children have alleged that they had informed about the shortage of oxygen and medicines in the hospital to the administration way before the incident took place. But no action was taken, lamented the parents.

An FIR under Sections 176, 188 and 304 of the Indian Penal Code has been registered against three doctors, including the chief medical officer, medical superintendent and another staff member, alleging the deaths of children in Farrukhabad hospital have been named in the police FIR.
