The election contest in Baramati constituency of Maharashtra has become very exciting as 'Pawar vs Pawar' as the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) on Saturday fielded Sunetra Pawar, wife of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, against Supriya Sule. Sule is the daughter of former Union Minister Sharad Pawar and cousin of Ajit Pawar. At present Ajit Pawar is the Deputy CM of Maharashtra, hence he has political advantage.

After becoming the NCP candidate from Baramati seat, 60-year-old Sunetra Pawar said that it is a fortunate day for her.

She said, "I thank Narendra Modi, Amit Shah and all the leaders of Mahayuti (Shiv Sena, BJP and NCP) for considering me worthy of contesting the elections."

On the question of contesting against Sule, Sunetra said, "The decision is in the hands of the public." Sunetra's candidature was announced by NCP Maharashtra unit president Sunil Tatkare.

At the same time, the Nationalist Congress Party (Sharadchandra Pawar) on Saturday released its first list of five candidates for the Lok Sabha elections from Maharashtra, in which Supriya Sule has once again been given the ticket from Baramati.

According to the list, Nilesh Lanke has been fielded in the Ahmednagar constituency of the state, who had switched sides from the Ajit Pawar camp and joined the Sharad Pawar faction.

NCP's Sharad Pawar faction state president Jayant Patil announced the list and said that Supriya Sule and Amol Kolhe have been made candidates again from Baramati and Shirur constituencies respectively.

Patil said that Bhaskar Bhagre has been made the candidate from Dindori seat of Nashik district and former Congress MLA Amar Kale has been made the candidate from Wardha.

Meanwhile, Tatkare said that the fight in Baramati is not about family but about ideology and principles. Sharad Pawar has won elections from Baramati Lok Sabha seat several times.
