After being made the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate for the third time from Varanasi parliamentary constituency, Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached Kashi for the first time and conducted a road show in his constituency and prayed for public welfare by offering prayers at Shri Kashi Vishwanath Temple. PM Modi also shared a video on social media, in which he told that worshiping in Kashi Vishwanath temple always gives amazing satisfaction to the mind.

State Chief Minister Adityanath was also present along with Prime Minister Modi. PM Modi went inside the temple from the main gate with folded hands and during this time Adityanath was following him. The Prime Minister offered prayers under the leadership of Pandit Shrikant Mishra at Kashi Vishwanath Temple. In the temple, the priests performed the puja amid chanting of mantras and PM Modi worshiped Kashi Vishwanath with all the rituals.

The priest also applied sandalwood paste on Prime Minister Modi's forehead. Just a day after Shivratri, Modi, who reached Baba Vishwanath for darshan, performed Rudrabhishek. Along with the echo of bells, PM Modi also performed the Aarti of Kashi Vishwanath and offered flowers. He also decorated Kashi Vishwanath. The priests blessed PM Modi by giving him a garment and garlanding him. The priest also tied Raksha Sutra to Prime Minister Modi amidst chanting of mantras.

Officials said that by offering prayers and parikrama in the temple, the Prime Minister wished for public welfare. On his return, PM Modi welcomed the excited public by showing his trident. Devotees gathered at Kashi Vishwanath temple raised slogans of 'Modi-Modi'. The Chief Minister had presented this trident to PM Modi in the Kashi Vishwanath complex.
