Hriday Narayan Dikshit likely to be the Speaker of UP legislative assembly

Lucknow: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has given nod to make senior party leader Hriday Narayan Dikshit as the Speaker of the 17th Legislative Assembly of Uttar Pradesh.

It may be mentioned that Wednesday is the last date of nominating any other names for the post, and if no names are proposed, then on March 30, Dikshit will take oath as the Speaker of the house.

Dikshit, during his long association with the party, has handled a number of assignments including that of the leader of the party in UP Legislative Council and other organizational posts.

Why Hriday Narayan as UP Assembly Speaker?

• He has been six times MLA.
• He is known to have sound knowledge of parliamentary affairs.
• He had served as minister of parliamentary affairs when BJP was in power.
• He is well-versed with the rules and practices of the Legislative Assembly.
