Himachal Pradesh cabinet minister Karan Singh passes away

Shimla: Himachal Pradesh minister for Ayurveda and cooperation Karan Singh passed away on early Friday morning. He was 59-years-old and is survived by his wife and son.

Singhwas was suffering from liver and throat ailments and was undergoing treatment at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi.

About Karan Singh:

  • Karan Singh is a member of the Kullu royal family.
  • He is the younger brother of BJP legislator Maheshwar Singh.
  • He was inducted into the cabinet in August 2015.
  • The late minister had earlier held a cabinet position in the BJP government but later had joined the Congress to ahead of the 2012 assembly polls.
  • He was inducted in the Himachal cabinet only last year.
  • Singh had lost his elder son in a road accident at Noida three years back.
