Not faulty EVMs, back-biting of SP leaders scripted my defeat: Aparna

Lucknow: Samajwadi Party patriarch Mulayam Singh Yadav's chotti bahu Aparna Yadav on Monday said she lost in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections due to the disloyalty of her own people and not because of Electronic Voting Machines (EVM).

"It was the back-biting of party leaders which left me suffer a defeat to Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Rita Bahuguna Joshi," said Aparna Yadav to a leading news channel.

Aparna, who contested the UP Assembly elections as SP candidate from Lucknow Cantt seat, was outshined by Rita Bahuguna Joshi.

Taking a dig at her brother-in-law Akhilesh Yadav, she said Election Commission should have cancelled the results if EVMs were tampered.

"If EVMs were manipulated then EC would have taken appropriate action over the same," said Aprana Yadav.

She also spoke over her bonding with Uttar Pradesh Chief Minsiter Yogi Adityanath and said former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister was always aware about the same. "I knew Yogi Adityanath before he became UP CM and Akhilesh knew that too,” said Aparna.

It may be recalled here that Yogi Adityanath had visited Akhilesh's step-brother Prateek Yadav and his wife Aparna run cow shelter here, few days ago.

Aparna, however, neglected every rumour of her joining the saffron party.

Apart from Aparna, MSY and Shivpal had also blamed Akhilesh for the poll debacle.
