EC cracks the whip on 13 DMs, 9 SPs; Gaurishankar is new Lucknow DM
Lucknow: Cracking the whip on 13 District Magistrates and nine Police Chiefs, the Election Commission on Friday ordered the Uttar Pradesh government to remove them.
Directive of EC came ahead of the UP elections in view of various complaints about these officers being partisan in their job. Incidentally, the removed officers included Satyendra Singh, the DM of state capital city Lucknow.
Gaurishankar Priyadarshi is the new District Magistrate of Lucknow.
Meanwhile, DMs of Aligarh, Etah, Bareilly, Amroha, Amethi, Shahjahanpur, Barabanki, Mahoba, Hamirpur, Fatehpur, Siddharthnagar, Basti among others have been transferred with immediate orders.
Nine SSPs and SPs from Barabanki, Moradabad, Rai Bareilly, Rampur, Etah, Saharanpur, Hamirpur, Amethi and Azamgarh.
