Congress workers took to the streets across Madhya Pradesh in protest against scores of FIRs lodged against party general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, former MP chief minister Kamalnath and some other senior leaders after a letter allegedly written by an association of contractors claiming corruption in award of the contracts In the state was released by the Congress leaders’ Twitter handles.

According to the reports, hundreds of Congress workers staged demonstrations in Bhopal, Indore, and some other towns in the state to register their protest against the registration of cases against their leaders.

Carrying placards stating ‘’50 per cent commission government’’, the Congress workers marched through the streets of the towns in the poll bound state and raised slogans against the BJP government.

At a press conference in Bhopal, former minister P.C.Sharma said that the Congress workers were not afraid of going to jail. ‘’We will continue to expose this government without bothering for the consequences,’’ Sharma said.

Sharma also accused the MP police of working on the orders of their political masters and asked them to follow the law.

Senior Congress leader Shobha Jha said that her party would soon release a paper containing list of alleged corrupt deeds of the present dispensation. ‘’Let the state government register FIRs against us…we will expose this government more,’’ she added.

Senior BJP leader and MP from Indore Shankar Lalwani said that the tweets by senior Congress leaders regarding alleged corruption in awarding the contracts in the state were against ‘’public sentiments’’.

‘’These tweets are bad in taste…..those who have posted the tweets are senior Congress leaders…they should have checked the facts before making the tweets….BJP has not lodged FIRs….the people of the state have lodged FIRs,’’ Lalwani said.
