Congress to blame itself for MP rout

Congress to blame itself for MP rout

Contrary to expectations, Congress has been routed in Madhya Pradesh. Although, Congress seemed confident of victory here, but the party’s tally was only 63 seats out of 230 seats.

In fact Congress has itself to blame for the MP debacle.

Former MP CM and senior Congress leader Kamal Nath made a mistake by announcing the election promises six months in advance. He promised ₹ 1500 Mahila Samman Yojana, gas cylinder for ₹ 500 and free electricity up to 100 units.

BJP also cleverly implemented these schemes. This mistake of Kamal Nath cost Congress dearly.

There was a complete lack of organization in the Congress. Congress did not seem to have any organizational structure. Congress candidates were seen contesting the elections with their own workers.

Congress seemed to have the only leadership of Kamal Nath. At many places, the pro-Kamal Nath candidate did not even put the photos of Sonia Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi on the posters, only the pictures of Kamal Nath and the candidate were put up. Bharatiya Janata Party tried its best to prove Kamal Nath to be a tired leader, in which he was successful.

Taking lessons from the 2018 elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party made every effort to woo the tribal and OBC classes, in which it seems to be successful. On the contrary, Congress took the tribals for granted and did not take the initiative as it should have.
