Congress Working Committee meet Underway in Ahmedabad

Congress chief Rahul Gandhi, UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi, former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and all senior party leaders are said to attend the meeting, which was postponed after the Pulwama terror attack on February 14 and the air strikes by India across the Line of Control on a terror camp in Balakot.

Ahmedabad/Gujarat: All the top Congress leaders have reached to attend high profile Congress Working Committee (CWC) meet in PM Modi's home turf Gujarat for the upcoming polls, on Tuesday, to give a final shape to the party's election strategy.

The day-long meeting of the Congress' highest decision-making body assumes significance as it comes just two days after the Election Commission declared the schedule for the Lok Sabha polls.

Highlights from Congress Gujarat Election Campaigning:

-Patidar leader Hardik Patel reaches Sardar Patel Smarak where Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting is underway.

-Former cricketer Gautam Gambhir may contest the April-May national election as a BJP candidate from Delhi. The 37-year-old may contest from the prestigious New Delhi constituency currently held by the party's Meenakshi Lekhi, say sources.

-Congress Working Committee Meet Underway.

-Congress leaders including chief Rahul Gandhi, Former PM Manmohan Singh, UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi and others attend the CWC meet at Sardar Patel National Memorial in Ahmedabad.

-Congress leaders Priyanka Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi at Sabarmati Ashram, to attend prayer meet on the anniversary of 'Dandi March'.

-Congress President Rahul Gandhi attends prayer meeting at Gandhi Ashram, Sabarmati, Congress Working Committee (CWC) Meet.

-Congress president Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and Sonia Gandhi have reached Ahmedabad. The three Gandhis arrived at the Sabarmati ashram in a bus.

It is after 1961, a gap of 58 years, that Gujarat is going to host a meeting of the CWC. It is also being held to commemorate the anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi beginning a new chapter in India's Independence struggle by launching the 'Salt Satyagraha' to Dandi on March 12, 1930.

A month before the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections all the parties are prepared to contest the polls either by locking their horns to fight or busy forming alliances to come in the power of the worlds largest democracy. The dates of the polls have been announced by the EC and the elections are to be conducted in 7 phases starting from April 11 to May 19.
