Lucknow: Asserting his government managed to bring down crime graph considerably during last six months, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday claimed that law and order presented the best picture in last many years.

Charting out achievements of his government on completion of six months of his tenure, he said, "Never before the people of the state lived in an atmosphere of fearlessness like this." There used to be at least two riots every week in previous regimes, but the new ruling dispensation had managed to control communal situation in the best possible manner, he added.

"During the past six months, a total of 17 arrant criminals have been eliminated and 1106 have been arrested in 431 encounters carried out by UP Police. During the process, 88 cops have also sustained injuries while Inspector JP Singh had martyred during one of the encounters," Yogi said, at a press conference joined by DGP Sulkhan Singh, Om Prakash Rajbhar, Reeta Bahuguna Joshi, Ashutosh Tandon, Brajesh Pathak and Siddharth Nath Singh.

During the address, he also patted his government's back for creating an 'investment friendly' atmosphere in the state.

"We have lived up to the expectations of the people by creating an investment friendly atmosphere here. A number of companies are showing interest in investing in our state. Adityanath said the state government had accorded top priority to the agriculture sector and farmers and cited the crop loan waiver as an example of prioritising farmers interests.
