CM Akhilesh Yadav appoints Alok Ranjan as Chief Adviser

Lucknow: Just a day before of his retirement, the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav appointed Chief Secretary Alok Ranjan as his chief adviser on Wednesday.

Ranjan willbe enjoying the status of a cabinet minister. This is the first time that the post been offered to a chief secretary.

It may be recalled that the Uttar Pradesh government was keen to extend his tenure for the second time but it could not happen after Ranjan did not give his consent for this.
