BJP leader distorts history, claims Akbar tried to misbehave with Bikaner Queen

Saini also claimed that the Meena Bazar closed down after an infamous incident where the Mughal emperor once tried to commit mischief there with Bikaner queen Kiran Devi, who put her sword on the emperor's chest and forced him to plead for his life.

Jaipur: Rajasthan BJP chief Madan Lal Saini on Thursday claimed that it is written in history that Mughal emperor Akbar once tried to misbehave with a Bikaner queen in Meena Bazaar (all women marketplace), where he frequently used to visit in disguise to do "dushkarm" (indecent behaviour).

Soon, Saini's statement was condemned by the Congress party, which accused the party of creating communal disharmony.

"The entire world knows that Akbar organised 'Meena Bazaars' where only women worked. Men were not permitted to visit them. But Akbar used to visit them in disguise to commit 'dushkarm'," had said BJP chief, Saini.

"It is recorded on the pages of history," Madan had asserted while interacting with media on sidelines a function to mark Mewar king Maharana Pratap's 479 Jayanti.

The state BJP president later said by "dushkarm" or wrongdoing, he meant chhed chhad (indecent behaviour).

Saini also claimed that the Meena Bazar closed down after an infamous incident where the Mughal emperor once tried to commit mischief there with Bikaner queen Kiran Devi, who put her sword on the emperor's chest and forced him to plead for his life.

The BJP leader said comparing Maharana Pratap with the Mughal emperor is making a mockery of the history and that the Mewar King is great because he fought for his religion, culture and honour and never tried to grab anyone's land and never yielded to the people who attacked the country.

The largest opposition party was quick to attack Saini's unhistorical remarks and party's vice president Archana Sharma criticized the BJP chief for promoting communal disharmony.

"The entire country is proud of Maharana Pratap's valour and people imitate his values but the BJP leader has presented a distorted history which creates enmity in society and leads to its disintegration," Sharma said.
