BJP approaches EC, demands freezing of Congress party symbol

New Delhi: Demanding a strong action against Congress, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday approached Election Commission, saying, the party has violated by Model Code of Conduct by comparing party's 'hand' symbol with various religious figures.

BJP delegation including Union Ministers Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, Prakash Javadekar and party office bearers Anil Jain, Bhupender Yadav and Sidharth Nath lodged a complaint with the Election Commission and also asked EC to freeze the party symbol.

BJP also gave the video footage of Rahul’s controversial speech to EC.

“EC has taken the matter very seriously and we believe that necessary steps will be taken on the same,” said Mukhtar Naqvi.

“Rahul Gandhi’s statement clearly means that if you are voting for Congress, you are voting for your religion,” he added.
