Panji: As many as 400 Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) members have backed expelled Goa unit chief of the organisation, Subhash Velingkar, indicating that all is not well with the 90-year-old outfit.

These members held a meeting here on Wednesday, expressed solidarity with him and decided to form a parallel Goa unit under his leadership. Several other volunteers of the parent organisation may join the new body.

A member of the new outfit said here on Friday that they would work independently till the next assembly election in the state . Several other members will join the new set-up, he claimed.

Subhash who was associated with the RSS for about 54 years was shown the door for allegedly taking active part in political activities which was against the organisation’s principle as it was not a political but cultural organisation.

Denying the charge he said a new committee will be formed by the newly set-up body soon.

It may be recalled that Subhash had made a scathing attack on the defence minister Manohar Parrikar. This could be a major reason for his ouster.
