For stone-pelters and other youths Dilip may be a guide

Lucknow: A youth in Gonda district of Uttar Pradesh may be a source of inspiration to stone-pelters in Kashmir and idlers in other parts of the country who blame the government for all the ills.

Residing in Achalnagar village in the eastern part of the state he was provided a small job in 2010. Not enjoying it fully and with a desire to have a better living through innovation and hard work he toyed with many new ideas.

Call it luck or what ever else , soon he came into contact with some farmers in the district As he believed in himself and thought that he could earn better by shifting to farm sector he discussed a few proposals with them.

He pinned all his hopes on some farmers who were frequent visitors to his work place. A few of them offered to help him in his mission. With their help he turned the tide and increased his income by many folds.

A few of them agreed to provide farm lands on lease to him which he needed to fulfill his desire.The rest was easily achieved.

Armed with land lease letter he approached a bank to provide him loan for fruit cultivation-- particularly banana and papaya. It was three years ago.

Planting high yielding varieties and using modern techniques, he is a crorepati today by selling these fruits in different markets.The area of coverage has gone up to 21 acres from a small patch of land.

Banana plants have been grown in 17 acres and papaya in the rest. The space in between the plants he has used for cultivating water melon during summer.

Production cost is low because these plants produce fruits for two years after full growth. A much higher returns he ,therefore, he gets on his investments.

His early life is as interesting. Belonging to a relatively poor family he was offered a small job in a sugar mill in the area. Looking for better opportunities he worked hard for a bank job. The wait was over five year ago and that changed his life and fortune.

With the help of farmers and the bank he is living a much better life himself and brought the smile back . He is now guiding some others to improve their farm incomes.

He may be a role model for youths in other parts of the country. His name is Dilip.
