Lucknow: The Yogi government in Uttar |Pradesh, in tune with BJP governments in some other states, has decided to adopt Electronic- tendering or online tendering process for mining leases and offering other jobs on contract to private individual or group to end corruption and bring in transparency.

It has simultaneously decided in favour of a long-term mining lease, for five years, and satellite mapping. In procurement too the new system will be followed by different government departments. In other words, the manual process in these two areas has been given a good-bye.

These decision were taken at a cabinet meeting here on Tuesday. A government spokesman who announced these decisions said the aim was to put an end to corruption in different fields.

" The lop-sided policies in mining and other areas have caused huge loss to the state exchequer. The new government has, therefore, decided to say a good-bye to the traditional practices which breeded corruption and adopt modern methods", he clarified.

The switch-over to e-tendering in awarding contract and making procurement will be completed in three months and all necessary orders will be given to different departments soon.

Files relating to mining and other such contracts were often not cleared soon for some reason or the other. The government has now decided that these files should be cleared within three days at the district-level.

Time-bound disposal of files will prevent cost-overrun and revision of projects' costs. It will lead to money- saving and saving of resources which can be gainfully employed elsewhere.

The new government proposed to expand the present Allahabad-Jhansi road and make it a six- lane road. The proposal has been sent to the Centre for necessary action. In addition, hurdles in the way of Bundelkhand- Delhi road are being removed so that it is constructed on time.
