New Delhi: Delhi High Court has set aside the Election Commission of India recommendations to disqualify the 20 Aam Aadmi Party MLAs in connection to the office of profit.

After the relief to the MLAs the ECI has now decided to re-hear the office of profit case.

It is to be mentioned that the case was regarding a plea, filed by the accused legislators following their disqualification by the commission stating that they were holding the post of parliamentary secretaries as legislators.

It was alleged that the MLAs held offices of profit, as they were appointed parliamentary secretaries to ministers in the Delhi government in March 2015.

The court asked the Election Commission to hear the case afresh because the MLAs were not given proper hearing before the poll panel decided on their disqualification. The case was now referred back to the Election Commission for reconsideration.
