Delhi CS assault case: CCTV footage found tampered with, says Police

New Delhi: The Delhi Police on Monday claimed that CCTV footage seized in the raid at Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's residence, as part of probe into alleged manhandeling of Delhi Chief Secretary Anshu Prakash, was tampered with.

The police has found discrepancies in the timings on the CCTV system and a further examination is required for a clearer picture, said a Delhi Police official.

Informing about the same to a Delhi court, the police said that the recovered CCTV footage will be sent to the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) for further examination.

Delhi's top bureaucrat Anshu Prakash had alleged that he was slapped and manhandled by two AAP MLAs on the intervening night of February 19-20 during an official meeting in presence of CM Kejriwal and his deputy Manish Sisodia.

The allegations, however, were quashed by CM’s office saying that the Chief Secretary was levelling baseless allegations at the behest of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

After the complaint was registered, the police arrested two AAP MLAs, Amanatullah Khan and Prakash Jarwal.

Police had seized a hard disk of the CCTV camera installed at CM's residence on February 23. The police, however, had found that seven of the total of 21 CCTV cameras were not working.

Tha hard disk has been seized and any possibility of ‘tampering’ with the system could be ascertained only through forensic examination, said Additional DCP (North) Harendra Singh.

It is worth mentioning that ever since the alleged attack, officers have shunned all the meetings of the Chief Minister and hi cabinet colleagues, demanding an apology from Kejriwal.

Amid all the chaos, a senior government official has stated that the Delhi government is mulling live streaming of all the official meetings in the wake of the allegation.
