New Delhi: Two days after his admission to Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital (RMLH), former Chief Minister of Haryana Om Prakash Chautala was shifted to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in the national capital on Tuesday.

“The National Lok Dal (NLD) chief has been admitted to AIIMS under Pulmonary Department’s head Dr Randeep Guleria,” said the hospital authorities.

It may be mentioned that the 81-year-old politico was rushed to RMLH from Tihar Jail on August 27 and shifted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) the next day. He was referred to RMLH by the central jail’s dispensary after complaining of breathing problems.

Chautala is currently lodged in Tihar jail, a prison complex located in Delhi’s Tihar village. The former CM, along with his son Ajay and seven others, had been convicted of illegal recruitment of 3,206 junior teachers by a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court on January 22, 2013. A 10-year jail term was awarded to each one of them.
