Seven blasts rock Indonesian capital, leaving Seven dead

Jakarta. At least six people were killed in a series of blasts in the Indonesian capital, Jakarta. Thses blasts took place outside the United Nations office in the capital. BBC reported gunfire breaking out afterwards.

According to reports the first blast took place at a Star Bucks cafe in Jalan Thamrin across Sarinah Plaza. The second blast also took place in the vicinity, outside a police kiosk located near the Sarinah mall. Three other blasts were reported at Cikni, Silpi and Kuningan neighborhoods, near the Turkish and Pakistani embassies.

A UN official near the scene, Jeremy Douglas, told the media that gunfire was ongoing.

Indonesian has been attacked by Islamist militant groups in the past and authorities suspect it to be handiwork of Islamic state.
