Sexagenarian held for raping a six-year-old girl in Ghaziabad

Ghaziabad, A sexagenarian man was today arrested on charges of raping a six-year-old girl in a playschool located inside an upscale residential township adjacent to NH-24 in this NCR district of Uttar Pradesh.

According to the police, accused is father-in-law of the playschool owner and has subsequently been arrested under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

The incident of alleged rape came to light on Tuesday last after the girl complained to her parents of being inappropriately touched by an elderly gentleman - whom she referred to as "dadu" (grandfather) - inside the school premises.

The FIR has been lodged at Vijay Nagar police station under sections 376 and 377 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) while relevant sections of the POCSO have also been slapped against the accused.

The report of medical examination is awaited while the probe has been ordered.
