Patiala Court convicts Daler Mehndi in human trafficking case

Amritsar: Singer Daler Mehndi has been convicted in a 2003 human trafficking case by Patiala Court on Friday.

The singer has been sentenced to 2-years in prison by the court.

He was held for the case in 2003 and the quantum has been produced by the court today.

It is to be mentioned that Daler and his brother, Shamsher Singh, were accused of illegally sending people abroad with their troupe by charging a huge amount of money.

It was alleged that the Mehndi brothers had taken two troupes in 1998 and 1999 during which 10 people were sent to the US as group members but they never returned.

Soon after the Patiala Police registered a case against Daler and Shamsher, more complaints came up levelling charges of fraud against the two brothers.
