Srinagar: Indian Army on Wednesday shot dead two terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir's Shopian district in a gun battle that also left a teenager dead.

Director General of Police S.P. Vaid said the fighting took place at Saigund Shopian and that two terrorists "have been neutralised and weapons recovered (from them).

"Unfortunately, one boy was also killed in the cross-fire and two ladies sustained injuries," he added. The security forces continued to search for more terrorists in the area.

The teenager, identified as Shakir Ahmad, 17, was killed and two girls were injured when protesters pelted stones at the security forces to disrupt the operation against the militants. The security personnel then opened fire.
