HC upholds death sentence to rapist and murderer of child

Lucknow: A high court bench of justices S V S Rathore and Pratyush Kumar confirmed the death sentence of convict Chhotkau, a resident of Shrawasti.

Shrawasti district judge had awarded him death penalty on March 29, 2014.

Twenty five year old convict was charged of brutally raping and killing six year old girl.

DJ had sent reference to HC to confirm death sentence. The convict had challenged the conviction and sentence by filing appeal.

HC dismissed the appeal of convict and upheld death sentence.

HC said the manner of committing rape and murder of a six year old girl was such as the convict deserved no sympathy.

Such convict has no right to remain alive in society.

The incident belonged to village under Semgarha police station at Ikauna village in Shravasti district of Uttar Pradesh.

The villager Chhotkau had committed the offence on March 8 in 2012.
