"Walk For Your Healthy heart" event

Nearly 75 faculty members along with their family members attended this "Walk For Your Healthy heart" event which was held to mark the World Heart Day that falls on 29th September 2021. Cardiovascular diseases including heart attacks and hypertension are the most common cause of death globally as well as in India and their rising numbers especially in the younger population is a cause for concern. Important modifiable causes of these diseases, which people can themselves change, are: lack of exercise, smoking, and an unhealthy diet.

Since the theme of the World Heart day this year is "Use Heart to Connect" its important we connect with our own hearts, and make sure that we are fuelling, nourishing and nurturing our hearts to the fullest. Events like the SGPGI Walkathon help increase awareness about maintaining a fit lifestyle by including heart-healthy physical activities like walking, jogging, running etc. in one's daily regime and also pay attention to a balanced and wholesome diet.
