Lucknow University witnessed a jolting incident on the night of November 25 when three second-year B.Com students engaged in an act of violence and coercion. Alok Jaiprakash Shukla, Anchal Kumar, and Priyanshi Gupta found themselves suspended from the university 12 days later, marking a stern response to their involvement in hooliganism on campus.

The incident unfolded in the Habibullah hostel, where the trio allegedly barged into a fellow student's room and subjected him to physical assault. Shockingly, the attackers brandished a pistol during the assault, elevating the severity of the incident. The victim, identified as Shashwat Yadav, faced not only physical harm but also the intimidation of a firearm.

In response to the incident, university authorities promptly filed a First Information Report (FIR) on November 26 at the Hasanganj police station. The FIR detailed the charges against Alok Jaiprakash Shukla, Anchal Kumar, and Priyanshi Gupta, outlining the violent episode and the use of weapons during the assault.

Shashwat Yadav's police complaint shed light on the brutal nature of the attack, describing how the assailants aimed firearms and sharp-edged weapons at him before subjecting him to physical blows. Yadav's brave defense against the assault resulted in serious injuries and a hand fracture caused by an iron rod.

What followed added another layer of concern to the incident. The trio reportedly attempted to coerce Yadav into retracting his FIR, demonstrating a disturbing pattern of intimidation. In a dubious move, they also transferred ₹3,000 to Yadav's account, further compromising the ethical standards expected of Lucknow University students.

In light of these developments, Rakesh Dwivedi, the Proctor of Lucknow University, issued an official notice on December 8, announcing the immediate suspension of Alok Jaiprakash Shukla, Anchal Kumar, and Priyanshi Gupta. The notice specified their eviction from the university hostel within 48 hours.

This resolute action by Lucknow University underscores its commitment to fostering a secure and respectful environment for all students. By swiftly addressing instances of violence and holding students accountable, the university sends a clear message that such behavior will not be tolerated within its academic community.
