No evidence against rape-accused Sengar: Yogi govt tells Alld HC

Allahabad: Replying to the Allahabad High Court, the counsel of Uttar Pradesh government, on Thursday, said that there is no evidence against the rape accused BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar and hence, he cannot be arrested.

High Court, however, has reserved its order and will pronounce the same at 2 pm on Friday.

Taking cognisance of the Unnao gangrape case, the Allahabad High Court had sought reply from the Yogi Adityanath government over delay in arrest of BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar, who has been booked under the POCSO Act.

The court had sought a reply on the matter in the post-lunch session on Thursday itself.

Allahabad HC's remarks came soon after Uttar Pradesh Principal Secretary (Home) Arvind Kumar and the Director General of Police (DGP) OP Singh expressed their apparent inability to arrest Sengar.
