The recruitment irregularities in UPPSC by CBI to continue: Allahabad HC

Allahabad: As a set back to previous government of Akhilesh Yadav, the Allahabad High Court on Wednesday rejected a plea to stop CBI probe into alleged irregularities in various recruitments by Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC) during five years.

A division bench comprised of Chief Justice DB Bhonsle and Justice Sunit Kumar passed the order on the writ petition of the Commission which argued that the UPPSC was a constitutional body and CBI cannot probe into its functioning. On the recommendation of the Yogi government in the state, the Central government had ordered the probe into allegations of irregular recruitments during the regime of Akhilesh Yadav government.

The Chairman and members on the behalf of UPPSC had filed the writ petition asking to cancel the CBI probe. The Court had reserved the verdict on february 7 last which was given on Wednesday.

It may be recalled that there was a lot of hue and cry over the functioning of UPPSC during the previous political regime and the state government had to recommend the CBI probe into the matter.
