Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Friday said that the Rajya Sabha election results have exposed the 'opportunist face' of Samajwadi Party (SP).

Addressing the media at the UP Vidhan Bhawan, the CM extended gratitude to all who voted for BJP candidates singling out the minister Om Prakash Rajbhar and the members of Apna Dal.

Yogi, flanked by Central Observer Piyush Goyal, his deputies Keshav Prasad Maurya and Dinesh Sharma, state BJP President Mahendra Nath Pandey, said that the results showed that the SP is only a taker not a giver, and warned Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) of taking a lesson from the development.

"I am thankful to all those who voted for BJP candidates on call of their inner sense," said the CM.

Earlier, BJP won nine out of 10 Rajya Sabha seats in Uttar Pradesh while Samajwadi Party secured one seat. BSP candidate Bhimrao Ambedkar could not secure the minimum number of votes (37) to win the seat.

The winning candidates are – Arun Jaitley (BJP), GVL Narasimha Rao (BJP), Anil Jain (BJP), Sakal Deep Rajbhar (BJP), Harinath Singh Yadav (BJP), Ashok Bajpai (BJP), Anil Agarwal (BJP), Kanta Kardam (BJP), Vijaypal Singh Tomar (BJP) and Jaya Bachchan (SP).

After the defeat, BSP General Secretary Satish Mishra slammed BJP by claiming that the winning party used unethical means including money power to win the elections.
