Kasganj: In an attempt to destroy the communal harmony, a door of Mosque in Kasganj district of Uttar Pradesh was set ablaze by some miscreants on Monday.

The incident took place near sabzi mandi in Ganjdundwara area of the district. Senior police officers were immediately rushed to the spot to pacified the angry mob.

"The situation is being closely monitored. The district administration is on the spot. Peace was returning to the area. No one behind this mischief will be spared," a state Home Department stated.

It may be mentioned that Kasganj has been burning since January 26, Republic Day. Violence had erupted amid an unauthorised motorcycle rally carried out by ABVP members.

While the bikers were passing through a Muslim-populated region, some miscreants started stone-pelting which sparked the violence. It claimed the life of a 19-year-old boy named Chandan, while another sustained severe injuries.

Property worth millions was vandalised and set on fire by the protesting youth.
